Ruth Borchard Competition

I'm going down to London later this morning to deliver my self portrait to the gallery for entry into the Ruth Borchard competition. My self portrait was picked as one of the entrants - please wish me luck.

College Week 35

Finished off my research and project books at 11pm on the Sunday evening.
Tried to get in to college as early as I could just so I could get things ready, and only ended up coming in half an hour earlier than I would normally be in. It still gave me time to get a few things sorted. I asked the photography tutor if my memory stick had been handed in as I wanted to get some contact sheets printed out and he said he remembered finding it and putting it away in a drawer for safe keeping. It wasn't there, we looked for it but it looks like the thing's been pilfered. Oh well - I had to make do with what I could find on my desktop. My power points were also on the memory card so I'll have to do those again.
My assessment went okay, although a few words of advise were made about some of my work - they still like the gorilla hand sculpture though, and the latest sculpture seemed to go down well apart from the concept behind it was difficult to grasp. I got graded a First for my Fine Art Skills class which has made me very happy. I hope the rest of my grades are suitable. We've been asked to return back to college on Monday 3rd June to collect the rest of our grades and probably give us the information we need until next years classes start.
That's basically it - a year of college over. Wow. It really has just flown by.

College Week 34

This week was spent mostly getting ready for the end of year assessment.
Finishing off my final sculpture for the college year.
Prints for my photography ordered
Got a powerpoint for Art History sorted and handed to the tutor. They're going to all be collected in and sent off to the external examiner.
Came in after the normal days to finish off my sculpture which finally got completed. Did some more work on the remaining powerpoints I need to assemble. I've decided to leave the powerpoints until after the assessments on monday, because they're not needed for then but shortly after. I can't be bothered with the hassle of making those and making sure my projects and research are all in order.
Out assignment to do while we're off for the summer is "Cityscape"

College Week 33

No Digital Art or Sculpture this week with it being a bank holiday on the Monday (Boooo).
Did some sketches of our life model in Life Drawing. I quite enjoyed it as I chose a variety of techniques we'd done earlier in the year as well as more orthodox sketching as well.
Did some photograph editing in Photography. I think I've picked the shots I want, plus a couple extra just in case and also decided on the scale of the prints I'll need.
In the lesson that would of been Art History I used the time to photograph my life drawings so I can put a selected number of them into a power point to be sent to the external examiner.
Visited the Middlesborough Institute of Modern Art instead of Professional Practice lessons on Wednesday afternnoon (when the mini bus turned up). Lovely building and nice staff but I really only liked about 5 exhibits.

Yet again more of the same. Things are soon coming to a close for this year and mentions of the nameless fear that is the first year assessments are beginning to loom.
I've hung my gallery exhibits and put my sculptures on a display case and podium next to my drawings and paintings.
As well as some more green stuff sculpting in Sculpture I also began work on the plinth on which my sculpture is going to be based and had the back plate for the sculpture cut to shape too.
In Life Drawing I finished the collage with an extra glued on piece of white paper with marker pen sketch over the top and some glued on fur. Although the pubic fur wasn't a popular choice with the tutor I liked it.
Edited a few photos in Photography class.
Last ever Art History class this week.
